She’s one of those cool moms. Not only a parent, but also a best friend who can see eye to eye with her kids. It’s cool that she was flexible, and not an authoritarian. I envy them for that. My dad is such a control freak.

I’m sure Bill was only trying to find his own individuality, by trying different things out… hair, clothing, make-up, nail varnish, if he hadn’t (his mum is right to let both the boys do that), he wouldn’t have become the Bill we all know and love. The same goes for Tom too.
I believe that parents can be both friends and parents to kids, it has to be balanced.
